I thought that I would start my keepsake making diary with a very special keepsake tortoise that I made for my lovely friend, Rachel's son, Alfie.
Rachel contacted me last year to ask if I could make a keepsake tortoise using one of Alfie's favourite onesies and of course I said that I would love to. I popped her name on my waiting list and she sent me the onesie along with a favourite t-shirt and some beautiful Riley Blake fabric from her own website. You can find more details about Rachel's business further down this post.
I just loved the skull and cross-bone theme and these fabrics were quite different to the baby clothes that I mainly work with. They also coordinated beautifully together so the design sketch came together very easily.
The next stage was to make up the patchwork shell and Pancakes head. Also I added his cute little face.
And here is Pancake looking as flat as a pancake!
All he needed now was stuffing and a little personalisation adding so that no one will ever forget his name!
I hope that you love him as much as Alfie loves him.
And here is what lovely Rachel had to say...
"Oh my goodness me, where do I start? Today we recieved Pancake. .....yes
my little boys keepsake who he's named Pancake. The excitement on
Alfie's face when he opened up the parcel was priceless. Jayne's work is
outstanding, you can see the love and care that goes into her makes. I
could have cried it's that beautiful and it's by far one of the nicest
keepsakes we own. I will definitely be ordering again and I would highly
recommend that anyone who would like a keepsake has Jayne to make them.
Her customer service is outstanding and as I said before her work is
amazing. Let's just say we are over the moon with our keepsake. Thank
you so much Jayne for your patience and amazing work. Love Rachel and
Alfie.....xx ps 5 stars isn't enough you deserve 100 ********** xxxx"

I have been a customer of Rachel's for quite a while now and must have tried something from every section of her range and must say I have never once been disappointed. Her products and customer service are second to none. A personal favourite of mine is her handmade
Crème Brûlée Scoopable Wax, it's scent is to die for! But, then again, so are her
Oriental Infusion wax products!
